Inter‘s Curva Nord is chanting as usual during their side’s first Champions League home match of the campaign, despite their decision not to unfurl any banners following the arrest of some of their ultras, including the group’s leader Marco Ferdico, who was involved in an anti-mafia operation carried out on Monday.

Football Italia is among the accredited media at San Siro to report on Inter’s clash against Red Star in the second fixture of their European campaign.

The Nerazzurri fans made their presence felt from the beginning of the teams’ warm-up with their vocal support, as announced by the Curva Nord on their official Instagram profile earlier in the afternoon, but opted to remove all banners from the green section of San Siro’s second tier.

There’s a raucous atmosphere at the Stadio Meazza, which has been pushing Inter on since the opening minute of their home clash against Red Star. The Curva Nord started chanting in the warm-up and raised their volume even further a few seconds before kick-off.

Despite the absence of banners in the green second tier as a sign of protest for the arrests of a number of their ultras on Monday, the fans’ group is supporting Simone Inzaghi’s side with songs and chants, as they announced they would on social media.

Nino Ceccarelli, one of the most prominent figures in the Curva Nord, published an Instagram post insisting that the Curva Nord “don’t give up” and must “go on”.

“Guys, a lot of you are texting me,” Ceccarelli said.

“We won’t have the banner tonight, but we’ll have the support. So we must chant, chant, chant.

“We don’t give up, let’s go on.”
