Liverpool are in the process of signing a new No9. Darwin Nunez failed to convince Arne Slot during the Dutchman’s first season in charge - which culminated in winning the Premier League title.
Luis Diaz did a decent job as a makeshift No9 - scoring 13 goals overall from centre-forward as well as the left-wing position. Both of those players could make way as Richard Hughes plots another upgrade.
Links are coming ever more frequently with Hugo Ekitike. We could probably expect the Frenchman to be appearing in Liverpool red before the end of the transfer window.
But to comfortably service the deal on a financial level, it is likely that outgoings will eventually be required.
Nunez has just seen a move to Napoli fall apart - but also has suitors in Saudi Arabia. Luis Diaz saw his club REJECT an offer from Bayern Munich earlier this week - with Liverpool insisting on €100m for their winger.
He would prefer a move to Barcelona - or else Bayern - but unless they stump up the money then Diaz is going to be frustrated. That is unless he decides on a move to Saudi Arabia.
Right now it appears that Al-Nassr are the only club in the running for Diaz because they would pay what Liverpool are asking for.
That’s according to a new report in SPORT, which claims Cristiano Ronaldo has personally asked his employers to sign Diaz.
“Only one club has indicated it is willing to put up the €100 million Liverpool are asking for: Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr,” the report reads.
