CorSera: Milan prevail in ‘messy match’ but cracks are more evident than ever | OneFootball

It was far from beautiful, but AC Milan managed to get the job done against Hellas Verona thanks to a lovely strike by Tijjani Reijnders. For the next few games, however, it’s clear that a lot more will be needed from the Rossoneri.

Paulo Fonseca was forced to deal with quite a few absences, including Christian Pulisic and Alvaro Morata, and thus opted for Filippo Terracciano in the midfield tandem. The youngster ended up having a lot to do, though, and also played decently.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), it was a messy match from start to finish, with the battle taking place above all in midfield. Furthermore, the technical errors piled up and the rhythm of the game was often all over the place as a result.

During the game, the protests continued in the stands as Curva Sud chanted “Cardinale, you have to sell”, while there were also some racist boos towards Mike Maignan from the home fans. The only positive thing, therefore, was clinching all three points.

A lot more will be needed from the Rossoneri in the next few games, as the newspaper concludes, with Roma up next Sunday and then Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana. It also remains to be seen if Rafael Leao will be available for these games, leaving yesterday’s game with a muscle injury.
