Reijnders scores but Fofana makes Milan headlines: Player Ratings vs Verona | OneFootball

Tijjani Reijnders scored the winner for Milan in a 1-0 win over Hellas Verona, but according to Italian sports papers, Youssouf Fofana was the MOTM at the Bentegodi as his assist deserved ‘UNESCO’s patronage.’

France international Fofana was the best player on the pitch on Friday when Milan secured a much-needed 1-0 win over strugglers Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi.

Fofana provided the assist for Reijnders’ winner in the second half with a lovely through ball. He was rated 7/10 by Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport and 7.5 by Tuttosport.

Gazzetta wrote that Fofana was the Milan ‘leader’ in the middle of the park despite pressing from Verona midfielders.

Reijnders and Alex Jimenez received the same rating on the pink paper (7/10), but Fofana was still crowned the best player on the pitch.

Corriere dello Sport wrote that Fofana’s assist was “genial” while Tuttosport said it deserved “UNESCO’s patronage.”

Fofana, 25, joined Milan in a €20m deal from Monaco last summer. He has one goal and five assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this term.
