Earlier this year, PSG sold Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig, and since then, the Dutch midfielder has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Leipzig paid €80 million for Simons, with €55 million paid upfront. The 22-year-old signed a contract running through June 2027, while PSG secured a sell-on clause as part of the deal.
The Athletic’s Adam Crafton reports that PSG received €17 million (£15 million) this week from a sell-on clause tied to Hugo Ekitiké’s transfer, so expect a similar sum from a Simons sale should it occur.
Moreover, Romano recently shared that Chelsea are making good progress in talks with Simons over personal terms. The midfielder is keen on the move and open to joining Chelsea, with direct negotiations ongoing to finalize the contract.
Chelsea reportedly want to move quickly to wrap up the player’s agreement before starting formal club-to-club talks with Leipzig.

On Friday, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey confirmed that Chelsea have made progress in talks over Simons in the past 48 hours.
“Chelsea are working on this extra creator – which is amazing considering they have Cole Palmer and Estevao,” Bailey told TBR Football. “However, Chelsea’s recruitment staff know what they want.
“Talks are ongoing over Xavi Simons, but their interest in Morgan Rogers has not gone away. Joe Shields, as we have said, would love to bring Rogers to Stamford Bridge, and there is still strong interest from within the club in Garnacho.”
CaughtOffside recently revealed that Simons could be available for around €60 million this summer and is open to moving to the Premier League. Discussions are underway about a potential transfer to London, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham all in the mix as possible destinations for the Netherlands international.
