Enzo Maresca has confirmed Jadon Sancho will miss Chelsea’s Conference League game against Noah on Thursday night as his bad luck continues.

Sancho arrived at Chelsea on deadline day on an initial loan move from Manchester United, which will become permanent for in the region of £25m as long as the Blues don’t finish in the bottom six.

The 24-year-old has made a promising start to life at Stamford Bridge and registered three assists in his first three games for the club, however things haven’t quite gone to plan recently.

Maresca confirms Sancho will miss Noah game

Since being substituted at half time in last month’s defeat against Liverpool at Anfield, Sancho hasn’t kicked a ball for the Blues.

He was left on the bench as Chelsea beat Panathinaikos in the Conference League and suffered the same fate in the recent league win against Newcastle, a decision Maresca explained as tactical.

Sancho was expected to feature in the recent Carabao Cup tie against the Magpies but missed the game through illness and was unavailable for Sunday’s game against United due to the conditions of his loan.

The winger was expected to feature against Noah, but speaking ahead of the game Maresca confirmed Sancho wouldn’t feature.

“He is recovering from that (illness),” he told his pre-match press conference.

“He had a knock in the session. He is out for tomorrow and we will see if he is available for Sunday or after the international break.”

Sancho hasn’t had a good run lately and missing the game against Noah is the latest bit of bad luck he’s suffered, but there will be more opportunities, with Maresca previously describing him as a special player.

It’s likely now that Mykhailo Mudryk and Pedro Neto or Noni Madueke will start against the Armenians, or Maresca could look to hand an opportunity to youngster Tyrique George who impressed when he came on against Panathinaikos.
