Renato Veiga is still expected to leave Chelsea this summer despite Levi Colwill sustaining a long-term injury.
Veiga has returned to Chelsea after spending the second half of last season on loan at Juventus.
The Portugal international only joined Chelsea from FC Basel last summer but struggled for regular first-team football. After 13 appearances at Juventus, Veiga is now exploring his options ahead of a permanent exit.
A move to Atletico Madrid fell through earlier in the transfer window, though a transfer is still expected before the closure of the transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the defender still wants to leave Chelsea and the West Londoners are open to his sale. Several clubs are weighing up an approach for the 22-year-old.
That stance is despite a long-term injury to Levi Colwill that has opened up a role as the club’s left-sided centre-back.
Colwill sustained an ACL injury in training earlier this month and has since undergone successful surgery. The England defender is set to miss the majority of the 2025/26 season as a result.
Chelsea remain open to offloading Veiga with Enzo Maresca content with the club’s centre-back options. Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are all senior options, while new signing Jorrel Hato can also cover the position.
