Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Premier League strugglers Burnley at Old Trafford.

A goal from Antony in the 79th minute was cancelled out by Zeki Amdouni’s penalty kick in the dying embers of the match after Andre Onana was judged to have completely wiped out a Burnley player.

It was another disappointing performance and result for the Red Devils, who remain in sixth place and just one point above Newcastle in seventh.

The Red Devils had 47% possession compared to Burnley’s slightly better 53% share of the ball.

United managed 10 shots on target from their total 27 cracks at goal. Vincent Kompany’s men on the other hand had 16 shots, with seven of these requiring Onana to swing into action.

The Clarets strung more passes than United.

The 20-time English champions put together 406 passes with a pass completion rate of 78%. Burnley managed 447 passes with the same accuracy as United.

One of United’s best performers, in yet another game, was Fernandes.

The Portugal international registered 87 touches of the ball and successfully delivered 46 of the 60 passes he attempted to find his teammates with. Interestingly, nine of Fernandes’ passes were key passes.

He attempted eight crosses and 12 long balls. Fernandes found his intended target with three of his crossing attempts and nine long balls.

He also created four big chances.

The 29-year-old had two shots to his name – one on target and the other off target. He also hit the woodwork on one occasion.

The United skipper won just one of three ground duels he delved into. He was required to contest two aerial challenges but he won neither.

Fernandes made two clearances and intercepted the ball on one occasion.

He certainly didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
