Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick, and an out-of-favour member of his midfield ranks, are in full agreement when it comes to his future with the club.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who highlight Oriol Romeu as the player in question.

Midfielder Romeu for his part finds himself in something of a precarious situation at present.

Following a loan spell on the books of Girona in the 2024/25 season, the former Southampton man has since returned to base in Barcelona, with a year remaining on his contract.

The problem for Romeu, though, is that he does not feature in the plans of the Blaugrana in any way, shape or form.

Not only that, but no clubs have yet come knocking to try to land the 33-year-old with a view to next season.

Just a week out from Barcelona kicking into gear their pre-season endeavours, Romeu therefore finds himself out in the cold.

One thing is for certain, though, and that is the fact that he will not be taking to the pitch at the Camp Nou next season.
