Bastoni worrying knee injury scare during Inter trip to Parma | OneFootball

Alessandro Bastoni went off at half-time during Inter’s Serie A match against Parma with a knee injury, a huge scare just days before the Champions League quarter-final.

The Nerazzurri went into the break leading 2-0 at the Stadio Tardini thanks to a Matteo Darmian strike and fortunate Marcus Thuram shinned effort that went in anyway.

Coach Simone Inzaghi, who was watching from the stands due to a touchline ban on his 49th birthday, had opted to field practically a full-strength starting XI.

However, he was forced into a change at half-time when Bastoni was spotted sitting on the bench with a large ice pack strapped to his left knee, before he was replaced by Carlos Augusto.

According to DAZN, it was a precautionary measure more than a painful twinge.

More tests will be needed, but it is a worrying sight just days before the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.

That showdown with the German giants is on Tuesday evening and losing their star central defender would be a big problem.

The ice pack was strapped to the outside of the knee, suggesting a collateral ligament issue.
