A member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is in line for his first matchday call-up of the season this weekend.

That’s according to RAC1, who point towards Wojciech Szczęsny as the player in question.

Shot-stopper Szczęsny has for his part been forced to watch on from afar for Barcelona’s first two outings of the 2025/26 campaign.

As much comes with the Pole, after playing a starring role for Hansi Flick’s side last season, not yet registered for La Liga action.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media over the last 24 hours is anything to go by, this situation should change over the days ahead.

As per a report from RAC1, following confirmation of Iñaki Peña’s loan move to Elche:

‘Barca can register Szczesny, who will be available for Sunday’s match at Rayo Vallecano.’

Barcelona are primed to travel to Vallecas on Sunday evening, with sights on a third successive victory to open the season.
