While it’s still unclear what level of financial flexibility Barça will have in the upcoming transfer window, history shows one thing clearly: they always find a way. As per Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona are set to push to sign Liverpool star Luis Diaz again this summer. The Colombian has been linked with a move to the Catalan club in the past, but a transfer never actually took place.

The talented South American winger has had a mixed season at Liverpool under Arne Slot. He made a brilliant start to the campaign and then completely went off the boil through the middle phase. However, he has made a decent recovery towards the end of the season.

Luis Diaz is a very good player, and in the right system, he can be very useful. However, he is very similar to what Raphinha already offers Barcelona, and if the club were making a signing this summer, they might want to bring someone with a different profile.

The report mentions that the transfer fee expected would be around €80m, and it won’t make much sense for Barcelona to pay such an exorbitant fee to bring in a player whose consistency has left a lot to be desired throughout his career.

Barca require someone who can mirror Lamine Yamal’s threat from the opposite flank; a true game-breaker. While Nico Williams fits that description perfectly, other profiles are also worth exploring.

This summer could be pivotal in shaping the next chapter of Barcelona’s rebuild. Whether Diaz is part of that remains to be seen, but what’s certain is that Flick will need the right tools to take this project to the next level.
