FC Barcelona full-back Jules Kounde was once again on the receiving end of Hansi Flick’s wrath as he came late to a team talk and was penalized by being dropped from the starting eleven for the game against Rayo Vallecano.
This was not the first time this had happened with the French defender, but while the former Sevilla defender was clearly the loser in this situation, the winner was undoubtedly Hector Fort, who got the start over Kounde for that game.
Still, this was quite a rare appearance for the La Masia graduate, and it is quite clear that he is not enjoying a lot of confidence from Hansi Flick at the moment, and has played only 465 minutes in 14 games this season, starting only 3 matches.
But despite this lack of minutes, it looks like the fullback is committed to succeeding at the Blaugrana club.
This is clear from a report from SPORT, which claims that the Italian side Como, currently managed by the former Blaugrana midfielder Cesc Fabregas, wanted to get him in the last winter transfer window, but Barcelona rejected their €8 million offer at Fort’s request.
The defender was reluctant to leave as he wants to continue climbing in importance at the Catalan club. He has made his way to the first team from grass roots level at the Blaugrana club, and still 18 years old and with a youth card, he has all the reason to hope that he will get an important role in the first team going forward.
Although they were not able to land Fort, Como were one of the most active sides in the last winter transfer window, making up to 10 signings. In addition to the fullback, they also tried to sign Eric Garcia from Barcelona for €8 million fixed and another €2 million in variables. But that operation also did not materialize in the end.
