PSG are closely monitoring Ibrahima Konaté, but they aren’t the only ones. Real Madrid are also tracking the Liverpool center-back, and interest in the 25-year-old continues to grow with the summer transfer window on the horizon. While Konaté is under contract until 2026, that hasn’t stopped top clubs from circling.

With Milan Skriniar expected to leave permanently—he’s currently on loan at Fenerbahçe—PSG have begun exploring options to bolster their defense. Although a move for Konaté isn’t on the verge of happening, the French champions appear to be laying the groundwork for a possible deal.

This isn’t the first time Konaté has been linked with a return to France. Anfield Watch reported earlier this year that PSG had already shown interest. A Paris native who came through the ranks at Paris FC before making his name at RB Leipzig, Konaté is viewed as a long-term solution at the back and a priority target for PSG this summer.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Konaté has let it be known, through intermediaries, that Real Madrid would be his preferred destination if he ends up leaving Liverpool.

Football Insider recently reported that Liverpool still believe they can convince Ibrahima Konaté to sign a new deal, despite some setbacks.

According to the outlet, Konaté has already turned down the club’s first contract offer, sparking concerns that he could leave as a free agent in 2026—similar to the situation surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Still, Liverpool remain optimistic that an agreement can be reached.

The French defender would be able to negotiate with foreign clubs as early as January. Foot Mercato previously reported that Konaté had been offered to several top sides, including Real Madrid, PSG, and Barcelona, as part of early groundwork for a potential 2026 move.
