Barcelona are expected to face competition when it comes to recruiting Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah this summer.

Tah is one of the more attractive players on the market this summer, a proven Bundesliga defender and Germany international available as a free agent with his Leverkusen contract coming to an end.

Bayern Munich pulled out of a deal to sign Tah last summer after failing to agree a fee with domestic rivals Leverkusen. Barcelona were also showing interest and have been tipped to move for the 29-year-old. But they aren't the only sides linked with a bargain transfer.

Mundo Deportivo writes that, despite being keen on joining Barcelona, Tah "continues to receive offers" from alternative sides. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, two clubs in need of defensive strengthening ahead of next season, are named as the latest to show interest.

By all accounts, Tah's intention is to sign with Barcelona. But no deal has yet been agreed, nor can one be until the Catalans have addressed the financial side of things, which could include trying to find new clubs for Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen. Even Ronald Araujo might be available, with the Uruguayan not a regular starter and his recently agreed new contract including a surprisingly low release clause.

Tah is said to be "willing to wait" for Barcelona to work things out. But, logically, the longer he remains available the greater the chance that he could be persuaded to join someone else with more solid finances and guarantees in place.

Whether Liverpool lose Virgil van Dijk this summer or not, there is a need to replace the veteran Dutchman sooner rather than later as he nears the end of his career. There have also been doubts about Ibrahima Konate's Anfield future amid recent links with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Tottenham haven't been at full strength defensively for much of this season, due to injuries ruling out Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso at various points.
