FC Barcelona ended the 2024-25 season in a very good fashion, i.e., by winning the La Liga title, after they had already won the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey titles. As the Blaugranes are not competing in the Club World Cup, their season is already over.

However, some Blaugrana players can still enjoy more glory before the start of the next season, as they are competing for some prestigious titles with their respective national teams.

This is the case with Gerard Martin and Pablo Torre, who were a part of the Spanish team for the UEFA U-23 European Championship, and both started their team’s opening game against Slovakia last night.

However, both of them had to be substituted out with physical problems, and things are not looking good for the fullback as Mundo Deportivo reports that he has dislocated the fifth metacarpal of the right hand, and will thus be unable to play in the remainder of the competition.

The defender underwent detailed tests this morning, and after assessing the extent of his injury, it was decided between the RFEF and Barcelona medical teams that he will return to the Catalan city to undergo surgery.

Will return in time for the preseason training

The fullback had started the game against Slovakia last night, but suffered the injury in the early stages of the game. He was substituted at half-time, and now, he will remain on the sidelines for a few weeks, bringing a premature end to his U-23 European Championship.

However, unless any recovery setbacks occur, he is expected to recover in time for the start of the preseason training under Hansi Flick, which is set to start on July 13th.

On the other hand, Pablo Torre is not suffering from any serious problem, and was substituted only because of fatigue. Thus, his participation in the rest of the competition is not in danger.
