The winter transfer window has already closed in Europe for quite some time now, but this is not the case in other parts of the world, as there are still 10 days left till it closes in Brazil. And these 10 days can still end up being significant for FC Barcelona.
This is mainly because one of the biggest clubs in the South American country, Palmeiras, are interested in signing the Blaugrana player Vitor Roque, who is currently playing away on loan at the La Liga club Real Betis, with the Verdiblancos having the option to keep him for another season and also to sign him permanently either this summer or in 2026.
Considering the involvement of all these stakeholders, it is natural to see Roque’s move to Brazil as quite a complicated operation. Thus, the Spanish publication SPORT has provided an overview of the main factors that can end up impacting this operation.
Barcelona are open to the departure of the young striker to his native country, as they are not counting on him for the future, but they want at least €27 million for him to ensure they do not end up making any losses on a player they spent €30 million to get.
Furthermore, they also want to keep a percentage of future rights on the player, as they believe he still can have a good career in the future.
Palmeiras have sent some unofficial signals to the Blaugranes to show their interest, but up to now, there has not been an official offer, and these official moves will not be undertaken until the Brazilian side gets a definitive okay from Roque.
Palmeiras have been trying to get this nod, but have not been able to get it so far. If they are unable to undertake this move in the next 10 days, they will once again try to sign him in June, when a special transfer window will open for the Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian club does not want to pay anything to Real Betis and wants Barcelona to take care of any financial demands made by the Seville side. In this regard, the Catalans believe they can convince Betis to part ways with the striker as they will save on his salary, and will also not have to pay a €1.5 million penalty if Roque does not play at least 50% of games.
Roque himself has been reluctant to return to Brazil, but with his future looking uncertain at Betis, and Palmeiras promising to make him a franchise player, he might be convinced for a move.
Meanwhile, Roque is also generating interest from Europe, with some Portuguese teams interested in him. However, they will not be willing to reach the €27 million sum demanded by Barcelona, and thus it remains where the player will undertake a move in the remaining 10 days of the market or in June.
