Aston Villa have become the latest club to express interest in Barcelona right-back Hector Fort, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.

The Premier League side have made an inquiry about the La Masia graduate’s availability as uncertainty continues to surround his future at the club.

Fort, 18, has long been seen as one of the most promising young defenders in Barcelona’s academy. However, he is currently not in Hansi Flick’s immediate plans for the season.

Exit very much likely

While several offers for the youngster are already on the table, no decision has been made by the club.

A departure before the close of the transfer window remains a strong possibility, but it is equally possible that he stays, especially given Barcelona’s reduced defensive depth following Inigo Martinez’s exit.

Initially, the idea was for Fort to develop under Jules Kounde’s mentorship, gaining valuable minutes when possible.

But Eric Garcia’s resurgence as a capable option at right-back has further limited his opportunities, prompting the club to rethink its plans.

Loan move seen as the best path

Barcelona’s sporting department believes regular first-team football is essential for Fort’s growth.

A loan move is seen as the most suitable solution, allowing him to gain consistent playing time while continuing his development.

Interest in the defender is growing rapidly. Alongside Aston Villa, Mallorca and Paris FC have also made inquiries.

Time to make a decision

With the transfer window entering its final stretch, Barcelona must decide whether to keep Fort as a squad option or send him out to gain experience elsewhere.

For now, the club is weighing the immediate need for defensive cover against the long-term benefits of ensuring Fort plays regularly.

His future could be decided in the coming days, and whichever path Barcelona choose, it will be with the aim of maximising the potential of one of their brightest academy products.
