Arsenal sign highly-rated Liverpool forward Smith | OneFootball

Arsenal have completed the signing of highly-rated Liverpool forward Olivia Smith.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning. More information was also provided on the club’s official website.

It has been reported that Arsenal have paid an undisclosed fee to secure the player’s services. The actual transfer fee has not been revealed, however, it is believed that Arsenal may have broken the world transfer record and Smith may have become the first £1 million player in the women’s game.

The 20-year-old Canadian international joined Liverpool from Portuguese club Sporting CP last summer. Smith enjoyed an excellent first year in England, scoring nine goals in 25 outings for the Merseyside club. Her performances caught the eye throughout the 2024/2025 campaign.

On the international stage, Smith has been capped by Canada on 18 occasions while she has scored four goals.

Smith is a major talent and she will now begin the next stage of her development with European champions Arsenal.

After joining The Gunners, Smith said “It’s a privilege and an honour to sign for Arsenal. It’s my dream to compete for the biggest titles here in England and in Europe and I’m excited to get started and contribute to doing that here with Arsenal. The atmosphere the supporters create at Emirates Stadium is incredible and I can’t wait to have that behind me now.”

Smith is Arsenal’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
