Then after Bruno had headed Newcastle in front, it was Alexander Isak with his latest very cool penalty to finish Sheffield United off, the Blades crumbling to a 5-1 loss.

The final whistle saw Alexander Isak now only one behind Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland in the Premier League top scorer race.

Alexander Isak with a very simple message after this latest victory and personal two goal display.

Alexander Isak speaking to Premier League Productions after Newcastle United’s 5-1 win over Sheffield United:

“I am very happy.

“It was important for us to stay in the race for Europe.

“We got off to quite a bad start and needed one goal against us to wake up.

“The reaction was very good.

“The manager gave us a wake-up call at half-time.

“Many of my penalties have been here at home. I tried to stay calm and focus on the moment. I was thinking I want a hat-trick. I haven’t had one [yet].

“Europe is still alive.

“We have to focus on ourselves and we will see how it goes.”
