Although the players are currently away from the club, intense work is still being done at FC Barcelona since the last few weeks. However, the focus of this work has shifted from the training grounds to the sporting offices, as the Catalans are working to shape up their team for the next season by reinforcing some weak areas and by ensuring the departures of some of their unnecessary players.
Meanwhile, the Blaugranes are also keeping an eye on the long-term future by keeping an eye on the young talent emerging in different parts of the world.
In this latter regard, one of the players who has been linked with Barcelona recently is the 16-year-old Portuguese winger Cardoso Varela, who is currently playing for the Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.
Seemingly, an operation to bring him to the Blaugrana club is already underway, as a report from Mundo Deportivo claims that Andy Bara, the representative of Dani Olmo and also a part of the agency that handles the affairs of Joan Garcia, was at the Ciutat Esportiva recently to discuss the signing of Varela.

The Catalans have been monitoring the player for some time now and are working to secure his signature. Previously, they were looking to incorporate him into their reserve team, but Barcelona Atletic’s relegation can force Cardoso Varela to remain at his current club on loan for another year, even if he is signed by the Blaugranes this summer.
A deal between the involved clubs is expected to be reached for €5 million in fixed fees and another €20 million in variables, which will be dependent on his performance with the Barcelona first team.
After the end of his meeting at Ciutat Esportiva, Bara was seen leaving the club facilities with Joan Soler, the Director responsible for youth football. At that time, the agent made it clear that he was not at the club’s facilities to discuss Joan Garcia’s future.
