Previous meeting

City and Yokohama F Marinos last faced each other in the summer of 2019, in what was our first-ever game in Japan.

And it would end in victory, with Pep Guardiola’s men rounding off our pre-season tour with a hard-fought 3-1 triumph in front of 65,000 supporters at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring with a powerful near-post drive after evading an opposing defender with a clever cut inside onto his left foot.

The lead was short lived, with Keita Endo firing home on the rebound inside five minutes of De Bruyne’s opener, but Raheem Sterling would restore our advantage with a clinical finish before the break.

And the victory was wrapped up in stoppage time when Luka Nmecha tapped home Adrian Bernabe’s ball across the face of goal.
