FC Barcelona and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen remain at odds for now. The club’s current issues with the German goalkeeper are proving to be a real headache for all parties involved. Unfortunately, the latest update only further escalates the situation.
According to SPORT, the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) has already reached out to the Barça captain and is fully supportive of his decision not to allow the club to send his medical report to La Liga. In fact, they have reportedly offered to provide any personal or legal assistance that he may need as well.

Things were already getting ugly, and the club’s decision to open a disciplinary case against Ter Stegen further escalated things. However, the report now suggests that it is unlikely for the Barça case to stand, considering that data protection laws take precedence over internal matters or administrative processes either way.
Still, Barcelona believes that the 33-year-old goalkeeper is not doing any of this to protect his data or privacy. Instead, at least to them, it feels like a blatant attempt to hinder their sporting and financial objectives, especially the registration process that would allow Joan Garcia to officially play for the club.
No matter what happens, this is not at all how either party should be behaving. Considering that these people are professionals, it is ironically immensely unprofessional how this whole matter is unfolding. For the sake of both Barça and Ter Stegen, an agreeable resolution needs to be found quickly.
