West Ham United are in talks with Reims forward Adama Bojang’s representatives over a summer transfer window move, according to the Sun.
However, the London Stadium club face competition from Brentford and another unnamed Premier League club for the 21-year-old Gambian.
The Hammers want to boost their attacking options amid the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio, and Bojang has caught their attention.
West Ham admire his potential, and a £5 million bid could be enough to tempt Reims into parting ways with him this summer.
Bojang first caught the attention of Premier League clubs in 2023 after impressing at the Under-20 World Cup. Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all reportedly registered interest.
However, he moved to the French club and spent last season on loan with Grasshopper Club Zurich, notching six goals and two assists in 27 appearances.
Renowned football agent Sascha Empacher, who discovered Mohamed Salah, believes the West Ham target has the potential to shine in the Premier League.
“Adama is the best African player I’ve seen in the last ten years,” he told Sky Sports.
“He can become one of the greatest African strikers. In the same league as (Didier) Drogba, (Samuel) Eto’o, Salah, and (Victor) Osimhen.”
The Hammers are set to sign Celtic youth striker Daniel Cummings next month, and adding Bojang to the squad could be a shrewd move.
However, it is debatable whether he has what it takes to hit the ground running in the Premier League despite his huge potential.
