West Bromwich Albion have reportedly made an offer to Spanish second-tier side Cadiz over the signing of striker Chris Ramos.
West Bromwich Albion supporters will have been left a little frustrated with the slowness of the Baggies’ business so far this summer, but it has now been reported that they have made an offer to Cadiz for striker Chris Ramos.
Having missed out on the top six and the play-off places last season, Albion parted company with Tony Mowbray, who was in his second stint in charge at The Hawthorns, with a couple of games of the campaign to go.
Mowbray’s replacement took a little bit of time to be confirmed but Ryan Mason was eventually appointed earlier this summer, having previously been a part of Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff at Tottenham Hotspur.
Mason has overseen three new additions to the West Brom squad as they seek to mount a serious challenge for promotion next season, and they have come from a variety of different markets.
Now, as the 2025/26 campaign looms, they appear to be exploring the Spanish market, lining up a move for a player with over 50 appearances in La Liga during his career.
According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, West Bromwich Albion have made an offer worth around 2.5 million euros to Cadiz over the signing of 28-year-old attacker Chris Ramos.
Moretto also reports that Albion are being challenged by a couple of other clubs, with Rayo Vallecano and Real Oviedo having also made offers for the Cadiz-born striker.
Rayo, who finished eighth and qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League from La Liga last season, are said to have offered 2.5 million euros with bonuses.
Oviedo, on the other hand, are believed to have offered 2 million euros, following their promotion back to the top-flight in nearly 20 years via the play-offs this summer.
Chris Ramos began his career in the small Balearic Island of Menorca, with Mercadal, before a journeyman career through San Fernando, Real Valladolid, Sevilla’s B team, Badajoz, Lugo and then eventually back at hometown club Cadiz.
With Cadiz, he became a key man for them in La Liga as they were relegated in 2024, but he enjoyed an impressive season in he second-tier of Spanish football last year, hitting double figures in 37 league games for a Cadiz side that underperformed with a mid-table finish.
There are a few things that need ironing out for West Brom ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, and a lot of work could be done and should be done may well rest on the future of their England U21 international winger Tom Fellows.
Fellows enjoyed a magnificent campaign last year and he is the reported subject of interest from Premier League side Everton, but no deal is yet to come to fruition nor appear close to doing so.
In the meantime, before there is further clarity on the funds available and what the squad may look like for the final month of the window, the Baggies have brought in three new signings this summer.
Bolton-born centre-back Nat Phillips has arrived from Liverpool, following a successful loan spell at Derby County last year.
