Since securing his loan move away from FC Barcelona to Real Betis this past summer, Vitor Roque has not shied away from speaking about his sorry stint at the Blaugrana club.

Signed from Athletico Paranaense in 2023, Roque arrived at the Catalan capital club in January this year but hardly got any chances under former manager Xavi Hernandez.

Things did not improve for the 19-year-old Brazilian under new coach Hansi Flick either as he hardly featured in pre-season and was never considered for selection once the season started.

Eventually, Roque ended up joining Real Betis on a loan deal which can run up to two years with the Andalusian outfit even retaining an option to purchase.

Following his loan move to Real Betis, Roque had fired shots at Barcelona in a recent interview, claiming that he was not always treated fairly.

Now, the 19-year-old has taken another shot at the Catalan club after he scored a double for the Brazilian Under-20 national team against Mexico on Sunday night.

“I hadn’t laughed in six or seven months,” Roque said, hinting at his difficult time at Barcelona, as quoted by SPORT.

“I have thanked everyone from the Brazilian national team who has been here for this week that I have been able to live,” he added.

“It was a short period of time, but I made the most of it, I joked and enjoyed myself, which is the most important thing… and when the game came, the goals came.”

Roque’s latest statements come after he hit out at his treatment at Barça last week, when he said:

“It was a bit complicated for me. I had some opportunities, but not the way I had imagined.

“I think it was complicated in general. I thought it was going to be different, both in the treatment and in the way of playing, as well as in the way the board spoke to me.”
