Barcelona’s financial troubles see them economically outmuscled by other competitors in Europe in several of their transfer pursuits.

While they have found ways to be competitive, the club has understandably shifted its attention to some of the lesser-known leagues. Earlier this year, they even made valuable recruitments from Africa to strengthen the B team.

Now, it appears that the Catalans have entered the Mexican market and are scouting young talents in North America.

Target identified

As relayed in a recent report by TUDN, Barcelona have their eyes on the Mexican youth market and have even identified a target they hope to snap up in the coming weeks.

The player in question is the young talent Gilberto Mora who at just 15 years of age is the youngest goalscorer in Liga MX history and is seen as one the the country’s brightest talents.

The attacking midfielder born in 2008 has already made four appearances in this season’s Liga MX playing for Club Tijuana, becoming the youngest goalscorer in the Mexican top flight.

Barcelona have offered him a move to Europe in the coming weeks and are willing to accommodate him in their academy.

The only factor remaining to turn the Catalans’ way is the player’s parents who must give the green light as he is still a minor.

The Blaugrana have invited Mora to train at the club facilities, experience La Masia, become familiar with the club’s identity and interact with members of the club’s youth teams.

They hope that the sneak peek into life in Catalonia will help the player decide in their favour.
