FC Barcelona manage to come out of a roller coaster of a game with a victory. The Catalan giants went away to Germany to play against Borussia Dortmund, and they came back with all three points. A memorable night for Barcelona, especially considering the way in which they got this win.
The final score was 3-2 in Barça’s favor, and it was mainly thanks to Hansi Flick’s impact substitutions that La Blaugrana managed to get this win. With two goals from substitute hero Ferran Torres and one from Raphinha, the Catalan giants managed to always stay one step ahead of their opponents.
Here are the player ratings for the Barcelona players.
Player Ratings:
Inaki Pena: 8.0
Despite the fact that Barcelona were quite clearly the dominant team in the first half, Inaki Pena had his fair share of moments to step up. Ultimately, he did not let his team down and made some fantastic saves for them. Ended up conceding two rather unfortunate goals, however.
Jules Kounde: 7.5
The Frenchman was unstoppable both in attack and defense. He never stopped running, and helped his team out both when they needed help defensively, and was also always there when they needed some creativity in attack from the wide flank.
Pau Cubarsi: 5.5
Was having a solid outing both defensively and in possession up until he made an unnecessary foul that resulted in a Borussia Dortmund penalty. That one goal ended up changing the entire course of the game compared to what was it like prior to that penalty.
Inigo Martinez: 7.5
The Spaniard had a solid outing overall, but saw his team concede two goals that may have been easily avoided on another night. Borussia Dortmund kept piling on the pressure on Barça in the second half, and the veteran defender did his part well enough.
Alejandro Balde: 7.0
Quick and aware to always keep his defensive duties in mind, Alejandro Balde covered a lot of distance for Barcelona and did his job well. Solid outing for the young fullback.
Marc Casado: 8.5
A true menace in the midfield, Marc Casado was always breathing down the necks of the Dortmund players. His interceptions, tackles, and aggression were all vital in ensuring that Barcelona managed to keep possession of the ball in crucial stages of the game.
Pedri: 8.0
Composed, never rushing his decisions, and always in control, Pedri was sensational once again. His presence in midfield was great for Barcelona, and it showed that his impact on Hansi Flick’s team remains undeniable. Was also vitally important in giving Barcelona their third goal by putting in all the work.
Lamine Yamal: 8.5
Went ignored by his teammates for most of the first half, and his frustration was visible whenever he was not picked out by the Barcelona players. However, his tempo changed drastically in the second half and he was much more influential. Even provided a beautiful assist to set up Ferran Torres for the winner. He also created a lot of other great chances throughout the game as well, including a beautiful trivela pass that should have been a definite goal from Raphinha.
Dani Olmo: 7.5
Sharper in between the lines and much more active in this game, Dani Olmo proved his quality once again. His control and pass to give Raphinha the assist for the Brazilian’s opener was beautiful, and it was the perfect way for the Spaniard to show his impact.
Raphinha: 8.0
A bit too selfish at times, but Raphinha still managed to get his goal. After being set up brilliantly by Dani Olmo, the Brazilian did the running and struck a strong, low shot past the Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper. Made sure to do the running that he was required to do.
Robert Lewandowski: 6.0
Not his best outing, and it was mainly because the service to him was not exceptional either. The Polish striker will be disappointed with himself for not having managed to get a goal against Borussia Dortmund on the night. Was also not involved in too much of the build up either.
Substitutes:
Frenkie de Jong: 6.0
Did not get to do a lot once he arrived on the pitch, but did well to maintain his composure when in possession and distribute passes well when he had to.
Ferran Torres: 9.0
The shark managed to take a huge bite from Borussia Dortmund in this game. A brace that ended up being crucial for the Catalan giants, and he was in the right place at the right time in both cases. Overall, brilliant awareness from Ferran Torres. Difference maker.
Fermin Lopez: 6.5
Had some great moments, one of which led to Ferran Torres scoring the second goal for Barcelona.
Pau Victor: N/A
Not enough time or influence on the pitch to warrant a rating.
