Barcelona manager Hansi Flick expressed immense satisfaction following his team’s impressive victory over Borussia Dortmund.

The win came in a challenging environment, solidifying Barcelona’s position in the Champions League group stage and bringing them one step closer to the round of 16.

Flick emphasised his pride in the team’s belief, composure, and the quality displayed throughout the match.

“We can be very proud of how we believed and how the players showed their quality,” he began saying.

One of the highlights was Raphinha who seemed to have some kind of physical problem. However, Flick ruled out anything major, stating, “He’s not injured. He’s just tired.”

A key highlight for Flick was the tactical execution during the first half, particularly the team’s ability to maintain calm possession of the ball.

Ferran Torres, who has been in excellent form, caught Flick’s attention once again. Scoring in his third consecutive game, Torres showcased his speed and finishing ability.

“He [Ferran] is a fast player, he has scored in the last three games. The second goal was not easy. I am very happy with him, he has a very positive mentality and a great attitude.”

He was also delighted with the impact made by substitutes Ferran and Fermin Lopez, whose introductions added a directness to Barcelona’s gameplay.

“The most positive thing was the ball possession in the first half, we played calmly. With the entrance of Fermin and Ferran, we were direct,” he explained.

The manager highlighted the bench’s depth, stressing the importance of every player being fully prepared when called upon.

“The win is very special. We knew that there was a lot at stake for both teams. If you win you take a big step towards the next round. We want to be in the top eight.

“There is another game on Sunday, and we will see how the players recover. But the bench is very good. Everyone who comes on must be 100 percent. Ferran and Fermin have combined. I am proud of all the players.”

The victory in Dortmund also held significance beyond the pitch. Flick acknowledged the importance of the support from travelling Barcelona fans, noting how their presence lifted the team.

The manager shared how fans, even neighbours, had expressed their hopes for a strong performance, and he was pleased to see them return home happy after a memorable match.

“I think it’s amazing that so many fans have come here. They will return to Barcelona happy.

“On Monday a neighbour told me that he was coming to Dortmund with his children and asked me to play a good game. Their last game was at Liverpool and they weren’t happy with it, but today they were,” he noted.

As Barcelona continues their Champions League journey, Flick remains grounded. He reiterated that while the ultimate goal is to reach the top eight, the team is focused on taking one match at a time.

“There is still a long way to go. We want to be among the top eight, that will be the first step. There are still many games left. We’re taking it one game at a time.”

With the squad’s current form and mentality, Barcelona appears well-positioned to achieve their ambitions in Europe this season.
