In the past few weeks, Real Madrid decided to rule out the possibility of signing Theo Hernandez, a move that was carefully considered by the club.
Now, according to a report from Real Madrid Confidencial, the team identified a few key reasons behind this choice.
Despite Hernandez being a talented player, the club ultimately decided that pursuing his signature was not in line with their current objectives.
Real Madrid have been grappling with a series of injuries, leading to speculation about potential reinforcements.
While their main target for the left-back position remains Alphonso Davies, Hernandez was also considered as an option. However, several factors led to the decision to step back from a move for the French defender.
One of the primary reasons for ruling out Hernandez is his age. At 27, he is close in age to Ferland Mendy, who is already 29. Real Madrid are looking to build a squad with younger, long-term prospects, and Hernandez did not align with this vision.

Another factor that played a role in the decision is the high asking price set by AC Milan, where Hernandez currently plays. The Serie A club is not expected to let go of their captain easily, which further complicates the move.
Moreover, Hernandez’s personal life and off-field conduct also raised concerns within the Madrid camp.
The club is looking for players who not only excel on the pitch but also embody the values and image of the club off it. With this in mind, the decision was made to focus on other potential signings.
Hernandez’s career has flourished at AC Milan, where he has been a key player for six seasons. Having previously played for Real Madrid and Real Sociedad, he found his rhythm at Milan.
Despite this, his relationship with the club has led him to explore the possibility of a move away. While Hernandez is no longer in consideration, Real Madrid’s focus remains on securing a younger, more fitting option for their left-back position.
Alphonso Davies is still the club’s top priority, but if that transfer does not materialise, the club may turn to Miguel Gutierrez as an alternative.
