Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti reflected on his team’s hard-fought victory over Valencia at Mestalla, where they overcame a one-goal deficit and a red card to secure a remarkable 2-1 comeback.
The match at Mestalla presented a tough challenge for Real Madrid. After conceding an early goal and being reduced to ten men, the defending champions displayed immense determination to overturn the scoreline.
Despite the adversity, they walked away with all three points, further underlining their resilience this season.

Ancelotti admitted that Real Madrid’s performance in the first half was far from their usual standards.
“It’s difficult to explain how badly we did in the first half and how good we were in the second, and with one less,” he began saying.
He described the opening 45 minutes as below par but praised the team’s extraordinary second-half display, even when they were a player down.
“They are three deserved points, but we cannot show these two sides. The first half was tremendously bad, the second half was tremendously good with ten.”

One of the key moments of the match was a missed penalty from Jude Bellingham, continuing a worrying trend for Los Blancos.
The team has now missed three of their last four penalties. Ancelotti acknowledged the need to address this issue and hinted at taking responsibility for deciding the penalty takers moving forward.
“It bothers me that we missed three penalties, I think I have to take responsibility for choosing who is going to shoot. Bellingham missed a penalty, but then gave up a goal and scored another,” he explained.

Despite missing a penalty, Bellingham played a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s turnaround. He showed incredible determination, contributing an assist and scoring the decisive goal.
Ancelotti praised Bellingham’s mental fortitude, noting how the missed penalty only fuelled his desire to make an impact in the game.
“It was a great game of his, he didn’t lose faith after missing the penalty, it gave him extra motivation.”
His final 30 minutes were described as nothing short of outstanding, a performance that epitomised his growing influence on the team.
“His last 30 minutes can only be done by him. He helped Mbappe and made an extraordinary effort. It’s a well-deserved award for the game he played.”

Another notable aspect of the match was Eduardo Camavinga’s impact from left-back. While Ferland Mendy started the game, Camavinga’s introduction brought a dynamic edge to Real Madrid’s play.
Ancelotti admitted that his ability to adapt to different roles continues to be a valuable asset for the team.
“The game had changed before. Mendy played his game, with Vinicius on the outside we needed something more inside. And Camavinga played a very good game,” he concluded.
