According to journalist Gerard Romero, it has come to light that there are people inside Barcelona who still believe signing Luis Diaz could turn out better than completing a deal for Nico Williams.

This update comes as Barcelona face fresh troubles in their efforts to secure Nico, who has been their top target to strengthen the left wing this summer.

Recent talks between the club and Nico’s agent have hit a roadblock. Last week, the two sides reached a verbal agreement on a six-year contract and salary. But once it came time to put everything on paper, negotiations stalled.

Sources say the player’s agent has made unexpected new demands, which have caused frustration at Barcelona. The high demands have left the club’s sporting department surprised and worried about whether they can complete the deal.

Al Nassr’s interest in Diaz

While Barcelona try to sort out the situation with Nico, they’re also facing complications with Diaz. Saudi club Al Nassr have entered the picture with a strong interest in the Colombian winger.

Reports suggest they’re ready to pay around £85 million to Liverpool, which would be extremely difficult for Barcelona to match given their financial limitations.

This means the Catalan giants may soon be out of the race for Diaz altogether.

It is to be noted that Diaz was the player Deco had chosen as the main option to strengthen the left flank.

However, the plan changed when Nico offered himself to the club. After discussions within the club, Barcelona decided to prioritise Nico instead of Diaz.

But now, with Al Nassr’s big offer on the table, Liverpool could reconsider, possibly accepting the Saudi proposal.

Everything disarray

At the moment, things are in disarray for Barcelona as both winger options come with serious complications.

The next few days will be crucial for the club to decide how to move forward with their plans to reinforce the squad for the upcoming season.

Whether they can overcome these obstacles or will have to look for alternative signings remains to be seen.

If nothing goes as planned, they would still have the option to go for Marcus Rashford.
