FC Barcelona have never had things easy in the transfer market in recent years. Every single time they think a transfer is progressing seamlessly, there seems to be a stumbling block, either in terms of the agent or registration issues with La Liga.

Just when things seemed to be progressing smoothly this summer, with the club having wrapped up a deal for Joan Garcia, it emerged earlier today that Barcelona were facing some complications in the signing of Nico Williams.

Everything seemed to be a done deal in the negotiations for the 22-year-old, with Barcelona waiting until July to pay his release clause, but these new developments have now ruffled the feathers among the club’s fans.

Now, however, as per the journalist Ferran Correas for SPORT, Barcelona remain confident of closing the deal for Nico Williams in the coming days despite some tension with the player’s agent, who is seeking registration guarantees.

Nico, on his part, has seemed very keen on making this move happen this summer, but one has to understand that the agent is looking at his client’s best interests when he is demanding registration guarantees.

La Liga have made it difficult for Barcelona to register new signings in recent seasons, but the Catalan club has always managed to pull it off until now. Last season, the club took the matter to court to ensure they have Dani Olmo registered for the entire season.

Next one, after Joan?

Barcelona, on their part, seem very confident of the business they are doing this summer. They have already triggered the release clause of Joan Garcia and announced him as an official player of the Catalan club, and won’t have any issues doing the same for Nico.

The next week could all but bring the curtains to a close on this transfer saga, and all Barcelona have to do is remain patient. The player’s desire to wear the Blaugrana would go a long way in making this happen, and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
