AC Milan have reached agreements over renewals involving two of their star players, namely Mike Maignan and Tijjani Reijnders.
According to the latest from Sky, a deal was reached in recent days with both Maignan (whose current contract expires in 2026) and Reijnders (whose contract runs until 2028). They are two key players within the squad, which means it is very positive news amid the climate of protest.
The French goalkeeper is expected to extend his deadline until 2029 and earn €5m net per season which marks a significant pay rise. The Dutch midfielder meanwhile started from a much lower salary, but it will go up to €3m net plus bonuses that increase in year to come.
It is yet to be understood when they will be made official, but the agreement on the figures and duration is there which is the first big step. It is certainly a proactive step from the directors too to safeguard the core for the future, especially Reijnders whose deal still has over three years.
In this fluctuating start to the season, Reijnders has certainly one of the positive notes at Milan. He arrived in the summer of 2023 for around €20m from AZ Alkmaar, and in this first part of the campaign he has even goals and three assists.
Maignan meanwhile came from Lille in the summer of 2021 and won the Scudetto in his first season with the club. A leader of the dressing room, he has made 131 appearances for the Rossoneri.
