Khephren Thuram eventually managed to break down Hellas Verona and give Juventus their fifth straight Serie A victory, putting Coppa Italia disappointment behind them.
The Bianconeri were subjected to angry fan protests after elimination from the Champions League to PSV Eindhoven, then the Coppa Italia on penalties to Empoli midweek. Francisco Conceicao joined Douglas Luiz, Renato Veiga, Nicolò Savona, Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal and Arek Milik on the treatment table, but Pierre Kalulu returned to the squad after a month out. Hellas missed Daniel Mosquera, Martin Frese, Suat Serdar and Abdou Harroui, but Domagoj Bradaric was back from suspension following the 1-0 win over Fiorentina. Coach Paolo Zanetti sat out a touchline ban.
Manuel Locatelli blasted over the bar, followed by Tomas Suslov and Amin Sarr both firing straight at Michele Di Gregorio from the edge of the area.
Federico Gatti volleyed just wide after Lorenzo Montipò fumbled a Kenan Yildiz free kick, but the goalkeeper was remarkable with the low one-handed save to deny Thuram from 12 yards.
Randal Kolo Muani just failed to connect with the Nico Gonzalez knock-down from close range, while McKennie had his goal disallowed on 36 minutes, as the header from a corner came after Lloyd Kelly fouled the ‘keeper.
Montipò also had his gloves stung by first Locatelli, then McKennie on the resulting corner before sticking out a boot to deny the Kenan Yildiz low drive.

Verona had the ball in the net during first half stoppages with a simply stunning Suslov screamer from 30 yards out in off the underside of the bar. However, it did not count because there was the Marco David Faraoni offside earlier in the build-up.
Montipò again used a boot to parry the scuffed Kolo Muani effort from just inside the area, while Sarr’s header flashed just wide at the other end.
Kenan Yildiz hit the side-netting after a well-worked move and Montipò parried the Nico Gonzalez header from 12 yards.
Alberto Costa made his Serie A debut for Juventus and drilled inches wide of the near post, but the deadlock was finally broken.
After a long Juventus passing move, Locatelli sent Cambiaso down the left and he pulled back for Thuram to sweep in first-time with his weaker left foot from 12 yards.
Locatelli had two attempts charged down, followed by a third curler off the inside of the right boot that Montipò saved.
Koopmeiners, who was jeered by some in the crowd when coming off the bench, added a second goal when he ran onto the Samuel Mbangula through ball and surprised Montipò at the near post from a tight angle.
