Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has now weighed in on the debate surrounding where Jack Grealish should play his football beyond the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish’s City future remains uncertain as the club continues its summer reshuffle, and after establishing himself as a Premier League and UEFA Champions League winner, the England international has since struggled with injuries and inconsistent form over the past season.

While City are not actively pushing the winger towards the exit door, they are believed to be open to offers – particularly loan moves – given the player’s wages and the £100 million fee paid to sign him from Aston Villa in 2021.

Several Premier League sides including Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, and West Ham United have reportedly shown interest in a potential deal, though the complexities of his contract make a permanent exit difficult.

This summer’s arrival of Rayan Cherki has further intensified speculation around Grealish’s position in the squad. The Frenchman’s technical profile and versatility in attacking roles could reduce Grealish’s first-team opportunities even further in the new campaign.

Now, speaking exclusively to Stake.com, former Manchester City striker and all-time Premier League legend Sergio Aguero has now weighed in on the conversation surrounding Jack Grealish’s future, indicating a familiar destination may be on the cards.

“I’m not very well-acquainted with the [Jack Grealish’s] situation, so I couldn’t issue an opinion about it,” the former Argentina international admitted.

He continued, “Surely anything is possible. He goes way back with Aston Villa so it might happen.”

While there have been no confirmed discussions between Aston Villa and Grealish’s representatives, the midfielder is likely to remain a hugely popular figure in the Midlands, and Unai Emery’s side could be tempted by the romanticism of bringing their former captain back.

Villa have significantly strengthened their squad in recent seasons and now boast European football, something that could appeal to Grealish if he desires regular minutes on a high-profile stage. Whether the financial demands of such a move are realistic remains a major hurdle.

From Manchester City’s side, the most realistic form of an exit is believed to be a loan arrangement, especially if they are unable to find a buyer willing to match Jack Grealish’s valuation and salary package.

A temporary departure would also allow the club to reassess his role in 12 months while managing squad depth and maintaining value on their investment.
