Striker has been heavily linked with a west London exit
Marco Silva says that Rodrigo Muniz is “likely” to stay at Fulham this season.
Muniz, who scored 11 Premier League goals last season, has been the subject of interest from Serie A side Atalanta, who saw a £34million bid rejected for the Brazilian.
Fulham will look to enter contract negotiations with Muniz after the transfer window closes.
Silva reiterated that he couldn’t confirm Muniz would stay at the club, but said he expected the striker to be a Fulham player by the end of the window.
"He's in contention [to play], completely. Rodrigo is likely to stay with us, let's hope we can renew his contract,” Silva said in his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s encounter with Manchester United this Sunday.
Silva added that he welcomed interest in Muniz, saying it was a sign of how well the 23-year-old has developed.
"I'm very, very pleased that we have interest for Rodrigo, we cannot be scared about it. It's a very good sign. It's up to us as a football club to be resilient, to be resistant, to negotiate & to say no. I don't want to lose Rodrigo."
Silva confirmed that winger Martial Godo could be allowed to leave amid interest from Coventry City.
However, the 48-year-old admitted Godo’s departure would leave Fulham short of options on the wing, particularly in a season when Alex Iwobi is expected to play at the Africa Cup of Nations.
"We don't have another cover. We have three wingers, one is going to be out for seven, eight games. We have two strikers. Many things in terms of numbers are short. AFCON has an impact in our decisions. Alex & Calvin [Bassey] will be out in a busy schedule for us."
