Inter Milan are keen to tie Davide Frattesi down to a new long-term contract.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the feeling is mutual, with the player now eager to stay at San Siro.

Davide Frattesi was close to leaving the Nerazzurri in January.

Indeed, frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities under Simone Inzaghi, he reportedly requested a transfer.

Furthermore, Roma made a valiant attempt to take him back to the capital.

However, Inter stopped the move at the 11th hour.

With Inzaghi gone, Frattesi’s career at Giuseppe Meazza has received a lifeline.

Indeed, new boss Cristian Chivu has decided to change the formation, switching from a 3-5-2 to a 3-4-2-1.

This new set-up suits the Italian midfield as it allows him to play closer to the strikers.

As such, Frattesi looks destined for a more prominent role next season.

Meanwhile, the Serie A runners-up are working to extend his contract.

Frattesi has returned to training after undergoing abdominal surgery in July and could soon debut under Chivu.
