Real Madrid star ‘will be a different player’ under Xabi Alonso | OneFootball

An up-and-coming member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week been tipped to thrive under the watch of new manager Xabi Alonso.

The player in question? Arda Güler.

Midfielder Güler is for his part of course fresh off something of a hit-and-miss 2nd season on the books of Real Madrid.

Though the Turk did enjoy an uptick in playing time and prominence under the watch of Carlo Ancelotti, he remained some way off first choice when all players were fit and available for selection.

All told, Güler racked up 42 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with five goals and an impressive nine assists along the way.

And one individual certain that such production will only improve under the watch of new Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso is Emre Belözoğlu.

Speaking during an interview with Diario AS this week, Turkish football icon Emre, who oversaw Güler’s early development at Fenerbahçe, explained:

”He’ll be even better. He improves every year. He always does. He’s already done brilliantly this year, but with the arrival of Xabi Alonso, we’ll see a very different Arda. He’ll improve. We’ll see a more accomplished Arda this season.”
