A headline member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has lost his place in the club’s first-choice XI.
That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Rodrygo as the player in question.
Frontman Rodrygo has of course come in for widespread criticism on the part of the Real Madrid faithful of late.
En route to Los Blancos being sent packing from the Champions League, and falling to defeat in the finale of the Copa del Rey, the Brazilian struggled to make any sort of telling impact.
Perfectly summing up Rodrygo’s recent woes is the fact that the versatile attacker has managed just a solitary goal in his latest 24 appearances for club and country.
And such woes, evidently, have not gone overlooked on the part of the coaching staff in Spain’s capital.
As per a report from AS, in fact:
‘The Clásico in the Copa del Rey final was the final straw in the slide Rodrygo seems to have slipped into. After that, a bout of flu conveniently sidelined him, just as it was confirmed that he had lost his starting spot to Arda Güler.’
Rodrygo, it is suggested, could even be shipped off by Real Madrid in the summer.
