The list of candidates in the running to be included in the La Liga Team of the Season for 2024/25 has been unveiled online.

And it should come as little surprise to hear of the shortlist being dominated chiefly by players from Spanish football’s two leading clubs.

Amid their ongoing push for the La Liga title, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are recognised by way of eight inclusions, from all over the pitch.

The following Blaugrana stars are in the running to be named in the Team of the Year:

Jules Koundé, Pau Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, Alejandro Balde, Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski

Turning attentions towards Real Madrid, meanwhile, Los Blancos could of course throw a major spanner in Barcelona’s title pursuit in the season’s final Clásico this coming weekend.

And Carlo Ancelotti’s squad therefore boasts strong TOTY representation, too, as follows:

Thibaut Courtois, Antonio Rüdiger, Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Jr, Kylian Mbappé

Other high-profile candidates to be named in the final La Liga XI for the campaign include the likes of Isco, Álex Baena, Oihan Sancet, Jan Oblak, Antoine Griezmann, Martín Zubimendi, Nico Williams and Julián Alvarez.
