The powers that be at Real Madrid have opened negotiations with their counterparts at La Liga rivals Getafe, over a potential summer transfer.

The player at the heart of such discussions? Álvaro Rodríguez.

Frontman Rodríguez, for his part, has long been making waves at youth level on the books of the aforementioned Real Madrid.

The Uruguayan racked up 34 league appearances for the club’s Castilla outfit this past season, notching 10 goals and two assists along the way.

As much proved enough for Rodríguez to secure a pair of appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s senior outfit, too, one in La Liga, and one in the Copa del Rey.

With some of world football’s finest blocking his path to regular first-team minutes for what is likely to be the foreseeable future in Spain’s capital, however, a Blancos exit for Rodríguez is beginning to look increasingly likely.

As per a report from Mario Cortegana, the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu are locked in talks with Getafe, over a summer deal for the 19-year-old:

‘Although details of the deal are yet to be finalised, Real Madrid would expect a proposal that includes a 50 per cent sell-on clause and a first option to buy the striker back at a future date.’

Discussions over Rodríguez are understood to have begun with a figure of €10 million being requested by Real Madrid, but it is acknowledged that ‘all parties are aware that the deal could be completed for significantly less’.
