Real Madrid Castilla are set to part ways with several players this summer from Mario de Luis and Lucas Cañizares to Marvel.

According to a breaking report from Rodra, now, the Merengues are close to sealing the departure of another defender as well.

The player in question is the academy’s young left-back Rafael Obrador who has been on the radar of several top clubs in recent times. Linked with a move to the Primera division for long, this could well be the summer he seals a move.

Las Palmas in pole position

Despite being just 20 years of age, Obrador has notably made his debut in La Liga already. He played a short cameo for Mallorca before joining the Real Madrid academy back in 2020 and is now eager to return to the top flight.

Last summer, Espanyol and Real Valladolid were interested in signing the player but a move did not materialise.

A departure looks more likely this summer and the Spanish journalist furthers that Las Palmas are the best placed on that front.

Contacts between Real Madrid and the Canary Islands-based club have already begun. There is also interest spoken of from other top clubs both in and outside Spain, but his destination will be subject to the right offer arriving.

A standard formula

Real Madrid have made it a tradition in recent years to sell young academy talents only with a certain amount of guaranteed leverage over their future. Be it in terms of a sell-on percentage or a repurchase clause, there is always a provision in place.

The situation with Obrador is the same. Real Madrid will not hesitate to part ways with the youngster considering the possible arrival of Alphonso Davies this summer.

His sale, however, will inevitably include a percentage of any future sale of the player and possibly a buyback clause as well.
