At 39 years old, Real Madrid captain Luka Modric continues to make history with his remarkable career.
In fact, if he steps onto the field against Valencia tonight, he will reach a new milestone, entering the top 10 list of players with the most appearances for Real Madrid.
This is yet another milestone in Modric’s exceptional journey at the club. Tonight’s match will be his 561st appearance for the club, bringing him level with Real Madrid legends Pirri and Michel in 10th place on the all-time appearance list.
This achievement adds to a career filled with remarkable records for the Croatian midfielder, whose consistency and talent continue to shine, even as he enters the later years of his career.
Just two weeks ago, Modric captained the team to victory in the Intercontinental Cup, marking his 28th title with the club.
He also made history earlier this year when he helped secure the European Super Cup, surpassing Francisco Gento to become the player with the most titles in Real Madrid’s history.

In October, Modric set another record by becoming the oldest player ever to wear the Real Madrid shirt at 39 years and 104 days, playing in the match against Sevilla. And he shows no signs of slowing down.
Once he enters the top 10, Modric still has the opportunity to climb further in the rankings of the club’s most distinguished players. Next in line is Jose Antonio Camacho, with 577 appearances.
Modric could surpass that number as soon as February, during a match in Cieza. But to reach even greater heights, he will need to join the exclusive club of players with over 600 appearances.
Only eight players in Real Madrid history have achieved this feat, and with the current season’s 72 possible games, Modric could play enough matches to surpass the 600-game mark.
If he maintains his current pace, having featured in all 26 games so far this season, he could potentially reach 606 appearances, overtaking Gento (600) and Fernando Hierro (602) in the process.
With each match, Modric continues to solidify his place among the very best players to ever wear the Real Madrid jersey.
