Eddie Howe hoping to see the team make it nine wins from eleven, the only exceptions the defeat at Villa and draw at Brighton.

With only two Premier League games left for each team to play, every result so important now, none more so than this Arsenal v Newcastle game, as these matches will dictate whether or not United will be in the Champions League next season.

Eddie Howe giving this Newcastle United injury update.

Pointers as to availability for this Arsenal match and beyond.

Official Newcastle United injury update from Eddie Howe – 16 May 2025:

Eddie Howe on Joelinton:

“He’s working away behind the scenes.

“Typical Joe he’s absolutely foot to the floor trying to get fit because he wants to be involved.

“The biggest possibility is that we don’t see him again this season and we’ll get him ready for next year.”

Eddie Howe on Sven Botman:

“It was a knock, he got a bang on his knee.

“We’re not sure about Sven’s availability for the weekend but we’ll give him a chance to be fit.

“We don’t think it’s a serious injury.

“He’s been unlucky.

“You’re going to get knocks and bruises in his position and this is a similar thing,

“he’s been really unlucky on the last two occasions.”

Eddie Howe on Kieran Trippier:

“I don’t think [he will be available] for this weekend.

“But again, it’s not a big injury, a very minor calf problem.”

Eddie Howe on Joe Willock:

“We will leave the door open for him again and I think there’s a slight chance [He will be available for this Arsenal match].”

So as things stand, it appears we have Kieran Trippier, Matt Targett and Lewis Hall definitely missing the Arsenal match, almost certainly Joelinton as well, probably Joe Willock missing as well on Sunday. Whilst great news on Sven Botman, nothing serious and a hope that he will be available on Sunday for this Arsenal trip.

Plus of course the possibility of some of these players available for Everton the following weekend.
