The chaos at Roma continues with the club announcing that CEO Lina Souloukou has resigned from her role, with reports she was behind the Daniele De Rossi sacking.

“AS Roma announces today that CEO Lina Souloukou has stepped down from her role,” read a statement.

“We thank Lina for her dedicated service during a critical period for the club and wish her the best in her future endeavors.

“The ownership remains fully committed to AS Roma’s growth and success, with continued focus on the values that make our club so special.”

Souloukou blamed for Roma chaos

There had been reports in La Repubblica newspaper yesterday that Souloukou had been placed under a light form of police protection following an angry response from some ultras to the decision to fire club icon De Rossi.

She had only taken the role in April 2023, after her experience as CEO of Olympiacos.

That news had been announced on Wednesday morning, with Ivan Juric drafted in as his replacement with a contract that only runs to the end of the current campaign.

It is believed Juric has a clause allowing him to extend by another year if he qualifies for the Champions League.

This is the second major dismissal at the club after Jose Mourinho was sacked in mid-January to make way for De Rossi.

They had failed to pick up a single victory so far this season, but many believe there were other differences in opinion behind the exit of the Roma coach.
