Norwich City Take Pole Position To Scoop Up West Brom Target | OneFootball

Championship outfit Norwich City are now leading the race for West Brom target Jakov Medic, who could leave Ajax this summer.

The Canaries and the Hawthorns have recently appointed new managers, after they had subpar previous seasons.

West Brom struggled to keep themselves in the top six after Carlos Corberan left for Valencia, and young Ryan Mason has been appointed to take them forward.

Johannes Hoff Thorup has also been sacked by the Canaries hierarchy, as they have appointed highly-rated Liam Manning from Bristol City.

Now, both clubs are trying to accelerate their summer transfer business and are looking to bring in a defender.

West Brom and Norwich City are showing their ambition, as they have targeted a centre-back from Dutch giants Ajax.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, the Carrow Road outfit are in the pole position for Ajax’s Medic, who is also wanted by West Brom.

However, they are not the only clubs that want the 26-year-old defender, as some lower-table Bundesliga clubs are also keeping their eyes on him.

The Amsterdam outfit paid €3m for Medic to St. Pauli in the summer of 2023 and it has been suggested that they want to recoup all of that money for him.

He has only nine Ajax appearances under his belt and could be on his way out of the club as his current contract is still valid until the summer of 2028.

Now it remains to be seen if West Brom will look to put their foot on the pedal to make a solid move for Medic or if he will end up at Carrow Road ahead of the new season.
