Tom Lawrence will be available on a free transfer this summer
Multiple Championship clubs have been linked with a move for Wales international winger Tom Lawrence, who is currently a free agent following his departure from Rangers.
Lawrence, 30, spent three seasons in Glasgow, where his time was disrupted by injuries, though he remained a valuable squad option when fit.
The former Derby County captain is now expected to return to English football, with a number of Championship clubs believed to be interested in securing his signature.
West Bromwich Albion are among those reportedly monitoring the situation, according to TEAMtalk, with Coventry City and newly-promoted Wrexham - Lawrence’s hometown club - also understood to be keeping tabs.
This follows a report from The Daily Mail in April which revealed Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers were also interested in acquiring the Welshman’s services.
Wrexham, backed by Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, are thought to be keen on adding experience to their ranks as they prepare for their first Championship campaign for 43 years.
Lawrence began his career at Manchester United and has since amassed over 300 appearances in senior football, the majority of those in the English second tier.
His most productive spell came during five seasons with Derby, where he regularly featured as both a winger and central playmaker.
With Grady Diangana leaving The Hawthorns earlier this summer, West Brom are expected to strengthen in wide areas.
However, much of their transfer activity will depend on outgoing deals and ongoing budgetary constraints under the club’s current ownership.
Lawrence’s availability on a free transfer may appeal to Albion’s hierarchy, though his age and wage demands could present a dilemma.
The Baggies have recently favoured younger signings with long-term potential and resale value - a trend which may place Lawrence slightly outside their preferred recruitment profile.
Elsewhere, Albion are also keeping an eye on Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, another potential addition as new head coach Ryan Mason shapes his squad.
The 34-year-old former Spurs midfielder begins pre-season preparations with his new team next week, with players due to report back on June 25.
