According to the latest update from SPORT, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has met with the top figures of the sporting management to plan the final days of the transfer window.

Ten days remain to conclude what has once again been a very complicated transfer window for the reigning La Liga champions.

And president Laporta had lunch with director Deco and other members of the sporting department to analyse all scenarios and make the final decisions.

Focus on registrations and returning to the 1:1 rule

The sporting management, in agreement with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, has prepared the final moves that could occur in the coming days and has presented their roadmap to Laporta.

The focus is now on reaching the 1:1 rule by January. Not in order to sign, but to be able to operate normally from that point onwards. Many efforts have been made, but there could still be a final departure through a transfer, which would be of significant help.

Deco and his team are now fully focused on the registration process, with the current priority being to give Gerard Martin a squad number before Saturday’s match against Levante.

To achieve this, an agreement to terminate Oriol Romeu’s contract must be reached. From there, the sporting management will look to finalise the exits of Inaki Pena and Hector Fort on loan, with Como emerging as a likely destination for both.

These departures would make it possible to register Wojciech Szczesny, Roony Bardghji and Marc Bernal.

The biggest potential move would be a high-value transfer, with Marc Casado the most likely candidate. A sale would bring in more than €30 million for the club’s finances.

While the sporting department is satisfied with the midfielder, they believe this is a favourable market situation to sell him if he agrees. If not, the matter will be reassessed in January.

No incomings

In terms of signings, no unexpected moves are anticipated. Flick is very happy with the current squad, with every position covered by quality players. The plan is to continue this way until January and evaluate the performance of all areas during the first part of the season.

Deco’s initial idea had been to bring in a young defender who could play both centrally and on the flank, initially for the reserve team but able to train with the first team. For now, the options on the table are not convincing enough.

If Barcelona return to the 1:1 rule, there could be an opportunity to advance a major operation in January, depending on the needs. For now, they are very satisfied with the work done by Deco and the revenue secured in such difficult months.
