Nico Williams makes final push to join Barcelona — Contract key to La Liga registration | OneFootball

After having added Joan Garcia to their team for the next season, FC Barcelona are now working to strengthen their attack and add the Athletic Club forward Nico Williams.

In this regard, some reports indicate that the Blaugranes have already reached a personal agreement with the player, and thus, the next step in this process would be the payment of his release clause to get him from the Basque club.

The Catalans have the money available to pay his €58 million release clause, and are expected to make this payment on 9th July.

Nico Williams willing to facilitate Barcelona

However, there are still some doubts about his registration after his signing, as, despite returning to the 1:1 status next summer, Barcelona will have to make some sales to get him registered with La Liga next season.

In fact, they have already ensured the departure of Clement Lenglet to Atletico Madrid, and are now also close to finalizing the departure of Ansu Fati on loan to Monaco. Other players like Pau Victor, Pablo Torre, and Andreas Christensen are also expected to leave this summer.

In this regard, SPORT reports that Nico himself is keen to facilitate the Catalan club, and is willing to receive an increasing salary, i.e., a lower wage in his first year, which will increase with the passing years.

Barcelona looking to complete the signing next month

With this facility, Barcelona are confident that they will be able to register the winger without any problems. If everything goes according to plan, the Catalans will sign Nico Williams by 9th July, so he can join Hansi Flick’s team from the very start of the pre-season training.

However, it might be some more days before he is registered with La Liga. But for now, the player himself is fully confident that he will get a number and will be able to play from the first matchday of La Liga 2025-26.
